ASIST presents at IBM's InterConnect 2015

At IBM's InterConnect 2015 in Las Vegas, ASIST is giving 3 presentations.

Two in the DevOps for Enterprise Systems Track by Jeroen Van Lommel and one in the Enterprise and Cloud Integration Track by Guy Theuws. Jeroen is the System i Competence Center Lead and Guy is Consultant at ASIST.

These are the sessions :

DAX-3731: DevOps in the Highly Integrated IBM i Development World
Speakers : Jeroen Van Lommel and Chris Trobridge, IBM
Learn how DevOps solutions can be applied by IBM i development organizations to help them respond rapidly to changing customer and marketplace demands. We'll show you real-world examples where IBM i organizations have deployed DevOps solutions from IBM and ARCAD to handle legacy development alongside the latest mobile and web development projects. We will also show how tools like Rational Developer for i and Rational Team Concert can improve developer and team productivity, make working with aging assets easier, and enable better testing by moving it earlier in the lifecycle. With IBM DevOps we can also provide solutions like UrbanCode Deploy for the complex challenges of deploying software in a hybrid environment.

DAX-1924: Unleash the Full Power of RPG and Rational Developer for i
Speakers : Jeroen Van Lommel, Edmund Reinhardt, IBM and  Brad Adams, IBM
The productivity, extensibility and raw power of Rational Developer for i (RDi) tools are indisputable. Combine RDi with the new free-format RPG compiler and you have a winning combination for modern development. But how do you get your development organization effectively using these offerings in the least amount of time so that you can create modern applications quickly, enjoyably and without constraints? In this session, we'll show you the latest powerful features in RDi and RPG, and we'll look at some customer case studies showing how IBM i development organizations made the new tooling experience "real" for their shops.

AEC-2820: Development of Single-Page Applications with an Enterprise JavaScript Framework
Speakers : Guy Theuws
The aim of this presentation is to show how to integrate a JavaScript front-end with an existing back-end. On the front-end, the Dojo Toolkit is used because the user interface has a professional look and feel. It’s also easy to extend applications to work with mobile devices. The back-end is independent and you are free to choose a language of your choice. In other words: if your company needs a cloud solution you can easily store its data in the cloud. The front-end expects records in JSON format. Of course SSL is used to secure the communication with the web services. As a real-life example, we have a client that is successfully using this framework. The EGL backend, generated to COBOL, is deployed on an IBM POWER7 machine.
